The first time I saw State Champs, they were opening for Neck Deep in 2016. Now, three years later, they sold out the House of Blues on their headlining “Living Proof” tour. To say I’m impressed is an understatement.
State Champs has always been a band I saw busting their butts to make a name for themselves- and they have. There was a buzz throughout the crowd as they anticipated the band, some even starting chants and cheers. It felt like a firecracker went off once the first notes of Criminal played, and just like that, they were off.
Between Ryan grooving around the stage to Derek jumping around with boundless energy, the stage was alive. I couldn’t keep track of the amount of eager crowdsurfers, each with a huge smile on their face. The band fed off the fans and vice versa, creating a show full of electic energy.
I’m eager to see where State Champs goes in the next three years; I have no doubt that with this level of stage performance and passion, they’ll be headlining arenas in no time.
