Bayside @ The Bell House

Bayside is on tour now promoting their album Acoustic 2 a follow-up to thier 2006 release, Acoustic. The acoustic re-imagination of their hits and deep cuts debuted at #4 on the Current Alternative charts. This tour is their first full band acoustic tour of the US. They stopped by The Bell House in Brooklyn on Friday with Kayleigh Goldsworthy to play to a sold out show to eager fans. Kaleigh Goldworthy opened the show with melodic guitar riffs and heartfelt lyricism. She’d later join Bayside on stage playing various instruments to help bring their discography to life acoustically. The 3/4 native New Yorker band was then welcomed with an energetic, enthuiastic crowd prepared to join lead singer Anthony Raneri in every word . The entirety of Acoustic 2 made up the set list along with more from their impressive, nearly 20 year catalog including “Moceanu”, “Not Fair”, “They Looked Like Strong Hands”, “Blame It On Bad Luck” and more.  The best part of Acoustic 2 is the way these songs feel familiar but don’t feel like they’ve been stripped down to anything less glorious. Added instrumentation and attention to detail made familiar melodies into a reimagination of your favorite songs.  The down to earth veterans of emo played a two song encore, but saved the process of pretending to the show was over and coyly peeking out to see if the crowd wanted more. They knew a sold out crowd wanted more. Lead singer Anthony Raneri joked about the whole process and let the crowd get a “ONE MORE SONG!” chant out of their system before Bayside proceeded to play two more. Those two were “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, an Oasis cover, and “Landing Feet First” Be sure to catch them at one of the tour dates below the gallery for a chance to see your favorite songs performed acoustically.
