Review: Proper Dose by The Story So Far

The Story So Far has recently dropped their newest album after three years. Following the release of the band’s third, self-titled album back in 2015 they seem to have gone on a brief hiatus and are back better than ever.

Formed back in 2007 in Walnut Creek, California, the pop punk band consists of five dedicated and talented members. They are currently signed with Pure Noise Records who also work with other bands such as Hawthorne Heights, Senses Fail and State Champs.

The Story So Far’s newest record shows growth and a new sound for the band while still maintaining their signature punk sound. Proper Dose, released on September 21st, consists of eleven tracks and is a record the band has shown much love and creativity for. Like the rest of their albums, guitarist Kevin Geyer and drummer Ryan Torf are the ones more relatively involved in making the creative decisions. The band, also teamed up with with record producer, Eric Valentine, who had previously collaborated with other artists like Taking Back Sunday and Good Charlotte to work on the album with.

Proper Dose is a record which shows great improvement for both the band as musicians and individuals mixed with a passion for story telling and creating. Their newest record makes a great addition to the band’s legacy and has the right amount of punk playing with both the more hardcore and acoustics sides.
