Formed in 2016, PVMNTS are an LA based powerhouse pop punk band who are quickly breaking into the scene and are well on the fast track to stardom. PVMNTS consists of Tyler Posey (vocals, bass, guitar,), Freddy Ramirez (vocals, bass, guitar) & Nick Guzman (drums).  Since forming in late 2016, the band has played a UK headlining tour and has performed at Slam Dunk Festival, all while only having one demo to play! (“Jumping Stairsets”). They gained huge success just from those performances, which would eventually lead to more music and more shows. In June of 2018 they would release a debut single called “Standing (On My Own Two Feet)”. It was a song Tyler had written during the passing of his mother so there was a lot of meaning and raw emotion in that song. The band would continue to release two more singles, “Chemical Trails”, and “Heavy Moon”. All of this lead up to the band’s debut EP called Better Days.

Better Days, released on August 17th would be the band’s first body of work as PVMNTS. Better Days is an album that has the true pop punk edge to it while also blending a bit of other genres and elements within it. In Better Days, the band tackles topics of anxiety, depression, death, and self-doubt. The band wanted their EP to be authentic as possible and while most of the songs include heavy emotion and dark messages, they are still uplifting tunes that can truly speak to those who listen. Better Days was produced by Kyle Black who previously worked on albums with State Champs and New Found Glory, in which you can definitely hear elements of both those bands in this EP.  When writing this EP, PVMNTS took inspiration from other bands like Blink-182, The Story So Far, and Taking Back Sunday. The EP features only six songs but each song is just as powerful as the next. Some standout tracks from the EP are “Heavy Moon”, “Hit The Ground”, & Standing (On My Own Two Feet)”. “Heavy Moon” is a song that Tyler wrote about his anxiety and depression. “Heavy Moon” is for sure a heavy hitting tune. It could even be the standout pop punk anthem of the EP. “Standing (On My Own Two Feet)” is about a life changing tragedy that prompts you to decide if you’re going to let it bring you down or if you’re going to take a positive path and do good, inspiring people along the way. It’s probably one of the more inspiring songs on the album with its raw emotion. “Hit The Ground” is another banger that is also inspiring. One lyric that stood out was “when the face in the mirror fades, and it’s hard to recognize” which is a powerful line that also alludes to the cover of the EP and how we put on different “faces” every day to get through each day, waiting for better days ahead.
