Alt-pop queen Lights embarked on one of her biggest headlining tour in support her just released fourth studio album Skin & Earth. The ” We Were Here Tour” arrived in Houston last night at White Oak Music Hall. Her album “Skin & Earth” is one of her most ambitious projects to date yet still remain true to her electronic pop nature.
Combining her love for art and music in this album, the 14-track album follows along her journey in her comics of the same title. With her red hair to match her comic book character and themes and artwork from the comics projected throughout the show, Lights did an amazing job of telling her story visually and musically.
Fellow Canadian DCF (short for David Charles Fisher) open up the night with an energetic performance along with his upbeat and groovy beats that got the crowd dancing. He left to a roar of applause and approval from the crowd, instantly becoming a crowd favorite. Australian-based alt/indie pop group Chase Atlantic came on next and brought the crowd’s energy to a whole new level. Playing songs off their self-titled debut album and hits such as “Into It”, “Okay”, the Aussie-based trio definitely earned some new fans from tonight.
Lights came on and opened up the show with “New Fears”, “Savage”, “Second Go”. She took the crowd down memory lane and performed her famous single “Up We Go” and older songs that personally meant to her more in the past such as “Siberia”, “Moonshine” and performing acoustic renditions of her past album songs such as “Muscle Memory”. Lights never fail to put on an amazing performance every time she’s here in Houston.
