Thrice and Circa Survive are currently out on the road for their co-headlining tour and they brought opening acts Chon and Balance & Composure along for the ride. These four incredible and diverse acts sold out not one but two nights at New Jersey’s legendary Starland Ballroom. Sunday night was Thrice’s turn to headline the night and they were not holding back any punches. The magical evening kicked off with emo rockers Balance & Composure setting the tone. Fans went wild when they played fan favorite tracks “Reflection” “Void” and “Tiny Raindrop.” Up next was San Diego math rock outfit Chon. The quartet brought the chill vibes with their stellar instrumental set. Their recent full-length Homey is garnering huge buzz for the band and giving them the long awaited attention they deserve.
Finally, co-headliners Circa Survive brought the crowds energy to a rambunctious high. Circa Survive is on this tour in support of their recent full length The Amulet, which was released this September. Fans were excited to here tracks from the new album live for the first time. Circa Survive decided to showcase “Rites of Investiture,” “Lustration,” “Flesh and Bone” and “Premonition of the Hex” off their new album and fans were incredibly drawn to each track. When it comes to Circa Survive their isn’t a specific song that’s considered a ‘crowd favorite’ because their entire discography is filled with crowd favorites. This band continuously produces hit after hit without fail which is a rarity. Their is no show like a Circa Survive show. Vocalist Anthony Green’s energy is magnetic and every member of the band has incredible showmanship. Fans easily feed off of their charismatic energy creating an impactful experience each time they play. Circa wrapped up their set with classics “The Difference Between Medicine and Poison is in the Dose” and “Get Out.” The energy kept growing as Thrice graced the stage to end the night with a bang. The quartet is out on the tour in support of their most recent release To Be Everywhere is to be Nowhere. Thrice’s eclectic set list ranged from new tracks “Hurricane’ and “Black Honey” to throwback tracks “The Artist in the Ambulance” and “The Earth Will Shake.” The crowds intensity during their set was definitely a sight worth seeing.
