Joyce Manor @ Cat’s Cradle

Cat’s Cradle in Carborro, NC was the halfway point of Joyce Manor’s US tour with Wavves, and Culture Abuse who joined a few shows earlier. This was one of those great shows where every band commanded your attention. Culture Abuse started the show with a lively set that got the audience started and ready to party. Wavves followed with another beer infused, raw performance that got fans moshing. Both bands drew quite the crowd and following, enough support for Wavves’s Nathan Williams to stage dive and be surfed throughout the crowd. Joyce Manor was up next and the room felt electric as many fans started to pack back in after smoke breaks or just getting some relief from the hot, sweaty, post performance air near the stage. Regardless, it didn’t take long for the fans to gather again. Joyce Manor then emergered from sides of the stage and the crowd subsequently jolted into a symbiotic chaos of swaying back and forth of people pushing, trying to get closer while screaming every word. They played a long setlist of many fan favorites like “Constant Heachache” and “Heart Tattoo” and indulged the crowd with an encore.
