BN Interview: Cane Hill

Cane Hill

Elijah Witt of Cane Hill took some time off from the busy life on Vans Warped Tour to talk to us about their time on Warped Tour, their new music video and what’s next for Cane Hill.

How did you all meet and what inspired you guys to get together and form Cane Hill?

We’re all from the same area so we just kind of picked one another from other bands and created this. We just wanted the good mucisians with a strong drive.

I managed to catch Cane Hill’s set at Warped Tour. How’s the whole tour going? What’s your favorite part of the festival?

It’s been so hot and exhausting but honestly the turnouts for are sets are pretty surprising in a scene we’ve barely dabbled in. My favorite part is definitely actually playing and seeing who goes out of their way to see us when so many other bands are playing at the same time.

Who are you guys most excited hang out with and see at Warped?

Ya boys in Crown The Empire, Oceans Ate Alaska, Coldrain and Volumes.

What makes you stand out from the rest of the other bands in the industry?

Listen to our album and let me know what you think.

Your upcoming debut album, Smile, is due out in a few days. Is there anything we can expect from the new record?

It’s better than the EP which at this point I don’t even see mattering. It’s honest and violent and its whatever the fuck we wanted to do all in one.

What are some musical influences that can be heard on the upcoming record?

Pantera, Alice In Chains, Metallica, Third Eye Blind, Ben Folds, Bach.

How does the writing process go about when writing your new record?

Usually James and Devin will lay down a drum track. I’ve heard that’s unusual and didn’t know that. Really we just try to set a groove and we go from there.

You guys just released a new music video, any inspiration behind the video?

We just released three so I haven’t the slightest which one you’re asking about so I’ll ASSUME it’s You’re So Wonderful. Really we just wanted to encapsulate that idea of being trapped and what better way than being dead? You have no options or opinions, you can’t say no or yes.

What’s up next for Cane Hill after Warped Tour?

We have a fall tour with ICP then we head out to Australia with bullet and Atreyu. After that we tour Europe with Bullet For My Valentine and Killswitch Engage and basically I don’t think we ever go home.

At last, what message would you like to give to your fans and our readers?

Pick up our album. Allow it to make you think. Start questioning all of the rules you’ve been raised to follow.

Follow and keep up with Cane Hill on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
